At its core are letters to a son from exile, poetry, and diary entries. A great figure, a powerful poet, a civic leader, and a fighter for truth appears before us as a loving father and husband, caught in an inner conflict between his duty as a citizen and his duty as a parent.
Above all, this is a play about humanity. Stus has much to teach us. Secondly, it is a story in which we can lean on the experience of another person who went through an unbelievably hard and painful path, yet never lost his capacity for love. It is no coincidence that in society Vasyl Stus is associated with the word “Unbreakable.” He teaches us to face our fate with dignity. And today, it is also a story about those on whose shoulders we, as a nation, stand. About who our titans are. About what the fabric of our history is woven from.
Performed by the Ukrainian theater troupe Vilnyi Ptakh. Actors: Valerie Urdya, Sviatoslav Medvedskyi, Nazar Sverediuk, Dana Vorona.
